Approximately 2.3 million spectators for Eliteserien and OBOS-ligaen matches each year.
1972
The organization was established in 1972.
Challenge
The project's goal was to procure a new publishing solution with interfaces, process descriptions, hosting services, and training. The solution was to be used by all clubs in Eliteserien and OBOS-ligaen, as well as eliteserien.no and clubs relegated from OBOS-ligaen (totaling 43 websites).
The biggest challenge was the limited time before launch and the season start, with just 8 months to realize all the websites, including concept and design approval, testing, and production. Solid project management and governance were essential for success, alongside numerous technical integrations that needed to be developed before launch.
On December 22, 2016, all websites were operational, well ahead of the 2017 season start.
Solution
The media platform's websites are designed with a responsive, mobile-first approach, emphasizing effective presentation of key information. Through flexible modules, clubs can easily create and publish relevant content. Large, clear images and an integrated video player support visual communication, which is vital in football’s interaction with fans. A match module automatically updates based on match status, delivering tailored information to users before, during, and after matches, enhancing audience engagement and participation.
It has been an incredible journey and a great collaboration between suppliers, the clubs, and not least the supporters we have spoken with.
The development of the new club pages emphasized content integration as a crucial part of the design. This was achieved through large, prominent images to highlight content, along with the clubs' unique logos, colors, and visual identities to strengthen club spirit. The headlines were designed to capture attention and clearly convey messages. This visual approach provides a comprehensive user experience that engages supporters and showcases the club's identity.
Technical Platform - Enonic XP / Cloud
The media platform is built on Enonic XP and integrates several systems, including FIKS, OPTA, and Lime CRM. To streamline content management, the platform features tools that enable simultaneous updates of sponsor logos and articles across all club websites. A DevOps system ensures that all websites always run the same versions, allowing for rapid creation of new club pages as needed, such as during promotions and relegations, with launches achievable in a single day.
