A day of coding at 99x

More than 30 children spent their Saturday at 99x in Bjørvika, Oslo, immersing themselves in the world of coding. In collaboration with Lær Kidsa Koding, they explored block programming, developed games in Scratch, and programmed small robots using Bit:Bot.

The participants came from diverse backgrounds—children of employees, partners, and customers of 99x, as well as students from nearby schools invited by Lær Kidsa Koding. Guided by dedicated volunteers from the organization, the children received instruction tailored to their age and prior coding experience.

Eiliv Mæhle Liljevik, CEO of 99x Digital Solutions, attended the event and was highly impressed by both the participants and the instructors.

"It’s truly inspiring to see children spend an entire day engaged in coding and programming. When they are curious and motivated, their learning accelerates tremendously. Today, I felt like I was witnessing the future of digital innovation in action," says Liljevik.

He emphasizes the importance of introducing children to coding in a hands-on and engaging way and is proud that 99x can contribute to this effort.

"Diversity in learning experiences is key. Schools are making great progress in this field, but what Lær Kidsa Koding offers is something entirely different. If we want to equip all children with the skills to create something with technology, we need more initiatives like this."

For more than 13 years, Lær Kidsa Koding has been empowering children and young people with the tools to understand and master technology. Kristin Anderssen, Partnership Manager at the organization, encourages more companies to follow 99x’s example and open their doors to young learners.

"When children have the opportunity to explore coding outside the classroom, their engagement soars. It fosters both a sense of achievement and curiosity—qualities that stay with them," says Anderssen.

She also highlights the organization’s ongoing growth and its ambition to expand its offerings.

"We already provide a range of activities for children, but we aim to introduce even more advanced programming opportunities. To make this possible, we rely on the support of partners like 99x, and we greatly appreciate their commitment to hosting initiatives like this."

For the children, the day was not just about learning—it was also about having fun. Isak and Lukas, two of the participants, already had some coding experience but found the event both valuable and exciting.

"Everything related to computers starts with programming. What we’re learning today could actually help us get a job in the future. It was really cool to see how small changes in the code affected what happened on the screen!"

By fostering curiosity and hands-on learning, initiatives like Lær Kidsa Koding play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of tech innovators. As technology continues to evolve, empowering young minds with these foundational skills ensures they are not just consumers of technology, but creators of the future.
